Its cold, and wet, and I need a haircut, and my throat is icky…

Okay this is a random, maybe a little whiny post. It is very cold and wet here. I really think if it should be this cold and wet then it should be cold and wet enough for me stay home snuggling my kids, drinking hot chocolate and watching Christmas movies. Instead I am at work, they are at school/pre-school, and it is still cold and wet.

I have one of those throat things where I don’t feel really bad, but I barely have a voice and I cough a lot. It’s not too bad, but I have had two kids so if I have to cough really hard I have to run to the bathroom or face the alternative.

I’m at work, which is usually a good thing. I like work, but it is kind of boring this week as I have everything planned and ready and not much going on the next two weeks due to the holidays. I mean we are going to Disney World, but that is all ready to go.

Speaking of the Disney World trip, I think the youth are going to do a daily video blog while we are out there. I am working on getting the parents OK, but so far it looks like it is on. So if you are interested in that, I will post a link on this blog before we leave so you know where to look. Hey, 15 youth, 4 adults (well two are adults, 2 are men who are technically adults but can be like having two extra youth with you), two vans, two condos, it should be interesting.

I really, really need to get my hair cut. It is to the middle of my back when it is dry and straighten out now. Just above that when it is frizzy and kinky like it usually is because it takes way to long to dry and straighten it out. So, I really want to get it cut, but I have no idea what to do. Should I keep is longish and just put some layers in to tame it, or should I go back to the just below the chin bob, or something else? If you know me and have seen me and have input, please let me know. My hair hasn’t been cut since I moved to where I am now which means it has been about a year. I have also a little burnt part on the side due to my old curling iron going out and having one last, very hot stand with my hair. It burnt off a small piece, which isn’t really noticeable, but you can feel it when you touch it and probably see it a little if you know where to look.

Christmas is almost here. I have almost all the presents ready to go, just two more things to buy and I am done. I plan to do that this week. The holiday starts for us this weekend. The boys get to open presents Friday night and Saturday. They are very excited. They only get three presents on Christmas morning, but they get plenty more from others in the family so that don’t seem to mind the three present rule. I suppose I really need to buy one more thing for Tark, but I have no idea what to get him. I bought him a couple of shirts which he has already discovered and worn. So I would like him to have something to open on Christmas morning. Any ideas on what to get a dorky 31 year old man that doesn’t cost too much?

    1. I think your hair looked its absolute best at Hey You’s wedding.

    2. In our mall they have one of those plug and play things that goes in any TV, but it is of all the classic Nintendo games (Mario 1, Donkey Kong, Zelda, Tetris, Excite Bike, etc. I know you have the Wii, but this one has a controller that looks like the original. Best part…it’s only $14.99. Or, you could always find him a really dorky t-shirt…I’m thinking something with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles would be pretty funny. You might also get creative and do the Christmas coupon book thing where you put your own ideas for ways to spend time together on separate pieces of paper (Night Out with No Kids, Movie and Popcorn, Couples Massages, you get the idea).

Chin length like after MG was born, only a little more modern…longer in front than back which is stacked. MUCH easier to care for and good for your climate. I looked at this site which has great pictures to chow to a stylist.

I second Hey You. I LOVE you with medium length hair (well, with every length, but you know what I mean). And, I have a suggestion since you’ve moved. Ask other people where they get their hair done, especially if you see someone with a style that you like (even if it’s a stranger). Likely they will be so flattered they will give you the place and the name of their stylist. I had several bad experiences in Wichita until I found my stylist, and the same has been the case for Omaha. I just wish I had asked other people. Oh, and for the gift for a dorky 31-year old…Have you guys watched the show The Big Bang Theory?? Joe and I LOVE it, and there is one character on that show that is always wearing dorky, robot and other nerdy themed t-shirts. My fave is one that shows a monkey evolving into a man evolving into a robot…hiLARious!!

Hold the phone…you don’t have TV???!!!??? How do you survive? Our DVR is always bursting at the pixels (is this term even accurate) because we don’t have enough time to watch all the shows that we like. Anyway, yes, we started watching BBT when it first started, and have loved it ever since.
