This and that….

First off Happy Birthday to ShoeShe!  I was going to post a picture of us going down a roller coaster being goobers for the camera, but it is not a flattering picture of either of us so we will just let that one stay were it is.

I am getting ready for a busy week next week.   I am driving to home state I think Monday afternoon or Tuesday morning to go see my mom and grandparents.  I am going to leave Wednesday and take the kiddos to Tark’s grandparents, leave them there and then come home.  So this will be the first Thanksgiving without the kids since we have had them, and the first Thanksgiving ever without being with family (besides each other) on the big day.

I think we might go to the church for the community Thanksgiving dinner.  We might just end up helping out a little and then driving to a really good steak place a little ways away that is suppose to be open on the day.

On Friday it is all about the shopping.  Yes, I am one of the idiots who get up early the day after Thanksgiving, run store to store, and spend way too much money.  It is fun, though!  I think I have my friend K convinced to go with me.  She had never heard of Black Friday before and thinks I am a little crazy that I want her to come with to Wal-mart at 5 a.m. in the morning.  I haven’t told her that it is usually crazy, and that we might die by a stampede of women with arms full of High School Musical dolls or be crushed by men carrying big TV’s.

I hope I can keep the post a day up when I visit mom.  She only has internet access through her wireless carrier, as she lives in the hills in the middle of nowhere.  I will try to post something.

I think tomorrow the boys and I are going to make our own little pre-Thanksgiving dinner after school.  It should be a good time, and I will try to post pictures.

Here is your smile today, brought to you by Tark and Westers….

(Driving in the car after dropping off some youth, Tark and Westers are left alone)

Westers: “Daddy?  Are we going back to church?”

Tark: “Yes, for just a little bit.”

Westers: “Is it God’s church?”

Tark: “Yes.”

Westers: “I love God.  Where is God”

Tark: “Well, Westers, he is everywhere.”

Westers: “Wow!  I can’t see him.”

Tark:  “Well, you can’t always see him, but he is everywhere you are.”

Westers: “Is God in the bathroom”

Tark: “Well, he is everywhere.”

Westers: “Oh.”

My kids are probably funny to just me….

Funny thing Mg said in the past:

Over a year and a half ago coming home from school talking about an upcoming Upward Bound Soccer game at the local Baptist church.

Mg: Momma how come we don’t go to church where I play soccer. It’s really big and nice.

Me; Yes it is Mg, but it is a Baptist Church and we do not go to a Baptist Church.

Mg: Oh.

Me: Do you know what kind of church we go to?

Mg; Well we must go to the goodest church then!

Me: Not Baddest church, Baptist church! And we are United Methodist, Mg. We go to a United Methodist Church.

Mg; But it is the goodest church isn’t it?!

Funny thing Mg said this week:

Mg: Momma, the church is having a bazaar this Saturday

Me; Yes, I know. I have to be there all day

Mg: Can I come?

Me: I think your dad is going to bring you after your soccer game.

Mg: Oh, can I invite the kids in my class

Me: Mg, you can invite any one you want, but I don’t think your friends will have much fun at the church bazaar.

Mg: But I saw a flyer and they are having a crap fair.

Me: Excuse me, what are they having?

Mg; A crap fair, they are going to sell crap. Our class loves making craps.

Me; No, Mg they are having a craft fair to sell crafts.

Mg; Craft, crap same thing! (so true, so true)

side note: Mg does not know what crap is.

Funny things Mg has done while trying to sing a song:

Jesus loves me , he’s a ghost

for the bible tells me so

Little ones to Kim belong….

(Kim used to be his and Westers babysitter)

Thy word is a lamp unto My Pete

and a light unto my path

(Pete is our Pastor)

Mg saying the Lord’s prayer

Our father who are there in heaven

How do you know my name

My king cone come, thy will be done

on earth and in heaven

Give us this day our dairy bread

And forgive us our trespasses and those trespasses against us

Lead us not into flirtation but deliver us some evil

For thine is the kingdom , the power, and the glory forever Amen! Mom was that close???

How Westers prays every day:

God is great, Amen!

He is also against any type of long prayer evidently If you pray too long for him, he starts shouting Amen! Hello, Amen!

Sunday Night and all is, well, ok

It is Sunday night which means one of my big work days is done for the week. I have two services in the morning and then youth at night which makes for a big day. Our pastor was out this week and we had a guest pastor so I was in charge of things in the service I am usually not, so it was a little stressful, but no one was hurt in the process so that is a success I think.

Westers started not feeling good this afternoon and slept until he went to the sitter for Sunday nights. She said he didn’t complain too much but it seemed like he didn’t feel good. My lovely friend K.N. who helps with the youth and his a pediatric nurse practitioner offered to check him out and it seems he has the beginnings of an ear infection. She is going to call him in some medicine and make him better. She is a great friend and very handy to have around.

Well, the new T.V. is now in our living room and it looks so massive in our smallish house. Here is a pic with my cat on top.  You can see my poor couch in the reflection where I need to poof up the cushions and pic something up off the ground.

tv

This tv is pretty big. I think the screen is like 58 inches. Our other tv is a very nice flat screen tv that I believe is like 37 inches, but still going up to 58 is a shock. Some things are kind of scary that big. So we had a big TV switch in our house. Our old tv in the living room went our bedroom. Our tv in our bedroom went to the extra room and the tv in the extra room I guess gets retired. It is my tv from college so I guess it is time.

So now my living room is mostly covered by couches and a huge tv, but as someone told me it is just less to vacuum.

It’s Saturday and I did say a post a day so….

So it is Saturday, and it’s the first one in a while where we haven’t had something we had to do on Saturday or were recovering from something the night before. Well today we kind of do have something to do. Tark’s parents are brining a huge tv to us. It is there old one as they got a new slightly bigger one. I am not really excited about the massive set about to be in my living room, but Tark is, so I will let him have it. I will post pictures once it is in place.

Today we have spent cleaning our carpet, sofa, and kitchen. We also spent today trying to corral Westers. He has been insane. Yesterday was my day off, so I let him stay home with me. He was quite active yesterday as well and I tried to keep him occupied, but it was difficult.

I don’t know if it is just finally being super busy that has caught up with me, or if I have a sickness coming on, but I am just got so tired early last night and it has lasted until today. There are several factors that are also probably helping this fatigue. I had one of my dizzy spells and it is just that time of the month as well.

I have knitting my nieces (two of my sister in laws girls) scarves and hats for their birthdays. I had the oldest one’s finished but I wasn’t happy with it, so I re did it this week. I am afraid the younger niece will have to wait on hers just a bit. I have had a hat and scarf made for my 2 year old niece (my brother’s oldest girl and quite possibly one of the prettiest little girl ever) for about a month now and still have not sent it. I really hope to do that next week. My knitting skills aren’t the greatest so I hope they at least aren’t too ashamed to wear them.

Sorry about the post about pretty much nothing, but it is super hard to think of something to write everyday. It is especially hard when you are worn out and completely boring like me.

Why I Do What I Do.

Sometimes it’s hard to be a youth director.  It seems like months and months go by and while the youth seem to have fun, they just don’t seem to get what it is you are trying to tell them.  You study the bible with them, have devotionals, go on retreats, go on trips, and they don’t seem to really have any strong feelings about anything.  Then you go on an amazing mission trip and watch youth who have never met before come together, help people, have real passionate worship, and still talk about it months later.

Sometimes it’s hard to be a mom.  The oldest of your kids is on the autistic spectrum and you watch him struggle in areas of school, struggle to connect to other kids, and cringe at some of the things he does in front of other people.  Your youngest child is. you are quite certain, the most wild three year old on the planet.  He yells things out at the wrong time, makes huge messes at home and laughs about it, and does about everything he can to drive you insane.  But then the oldest comes home with a huge smile as he shows you his report card with mostly A’s, on B, and only one really high C.  You pick him up from school and all the kids are saying bye to him and he responds to them by name.  Then that night, your youngest comes up to you before bed with his favorite book.  He climbs into your lap and snuggles against you as you read and then after it is over, tells you how much he loves his momma.

Of course there are also times like this, when your kids just make you laugh.

Sometimes it is just hard to be human.  You wonder if you have taken a wrong turn somewhere and ended up some place you were never meant to be, but then you just suddenly realize a few things.  Certain great things that are happening happened because you actually listened to God for once and did what he asked you to do.  It wasn’t what you expected, but then it seems He usually works that way.

What to write, how about everything?

The following post is categorized as wow Cat really lives a pretty boring life.

Looking at thehuckablog and finally understanding what NaBloPoMo is, I guess I will try to post every day this month from now on.  So here it is the first day of everyday post and I really not sure I have anything to write about, so I will  just put a quite a few different things out there and maybe someone will find something interesting in all of this.

We took a trip to a local pumpkin patch the weekend before Halloween.  Fun was had I suppose, at least the boys seem to have fun.  I was kind of hot, and itchy from the hay.  They turkey they had on display also scared me, he kept staring at me.  Here are some pics:

On Halloween, we stayed at the church.  We held a big children’s fall festival.  About 250 people attended so it was crazy, fun, but crazy.  I am still really tired.  There was slime everywhere and it was a mess to clean up, but I think it was really worth it.  My children at least seemed to enjoy themselves.

The rest of this weekend has passed in a haze of busy nothings.  We have cleaned, done the necessary shopping, and watched football.  Church was interesting this morning as the sermon started with a description of how some people were Martyred during the years of Nero.  It was very graphic, but it did seem to get people’s attention.  I watched some of the youth’s expression during this.  One had her mouth and eyes wide open the entire time, another was covering her eyes.  I am not sure what this accomplished as there weren’t any images.  One lady in the choir actually got up and left.  I thought that was a little dramatic.

Right now Westers is running around with two light sabers Tark got on sale yesterday and Tark is watching the Princess Diaries.  Tark is a special guy who is in touch with his feminine side.

Well, until tomorrow, when I hope I have more interesting things to blog about.

Getting Ready for Candy!

So Halloween is a little over a week away and my two boy’s costumes finally came in yesterday.  They were super excited.  So excited they both stripped off their clothes with no warning and demanded their costumes.  As I wanted to see them in the costumes as bad as they wanted to wear them, I helped them put on the costumes.  This year is fun because it’s the first year our youngest, Westers, really picked what he wanted to be.  And he picked:

Avatar Westers!  Actually he wanted to be Zuko, but they do not make costumes for that character and I am not handy enough with a sewing machine to even attempt such a feat.

My oldest son MG picked:

Speed Racer MG!!  MG was really set on this costume all summer so he was so happy he did a little photo session:

The kids wore the costumes until dinner and had conversation like this.

“Hey, Avatar, I’m Speed Racer, let’s go save the world!!”

“Mg, I’m not Avatar, I Westers!”

“I know, Westers, I’m just pretending!”

“Oh, okay.  Let’s Go!!”

This same conversation happened about 5 times, poor Mg got a little frustrated.
