Random April posting

I wrote a lot of this last Saturday, and just now found time to post it. Today is Tark’s birthday! Yea!! I would post more, but I do not have the time to do someone as -sweet, awesome, nice, great, strong, wicked cool, dorky, loving, and great man of God type-as Tark is justice.

So in-between the busyness I have found some time to write a little. This will be complete randomness, so you have been warned. I am also very tired as I got in last night at 2:00 am after taking youth to a concert.

First off, I am so freaking hungry. I have been on this diet thing for about 7 weeks now and I want nothing more than to devour a loaded pizza or a huge burger. Yet, I know if I did either of those things I would feel horrible afterwards, so this stinks. I mean I eat, and the things I eat taste good, it is just hard. I am thinking it might be time to splurge just a little before someone gets hurt.

I do like the results of the 7 weeks though. I have lost a little over 30 pounds. Of course I was so fat to begin with, I can’t really tell that much, though I am running out of pants that will actually stay on me so I guess that is a good sign.

Work is good, but busy and stressful. This week is Holy week and it is kind of a big deal. The youth do the Good Friday service and we are changing the venue to the stage in our family life center. It has always been in the sanctuary, so now I fear it has to be amazing or people will be mad about the change, because people hate change.

Did I mention that I am starving and it is very hard to be stressed and not be able to pig out a little?

Tark is now running a Christian coffee house. Which is good for him, because it’s something he really wants to do and feels like he is suppose to do, but it does decrease our total salary a little, plus now we have to pay more for insurance. That is a little stressful, but if it is something he thinks he is supposed to do I really have to support him. He has always supported me.

Did I mention that I am starving and the stress makes it harder?

The kids are good; MG is getting to the point where school is getting a little too easy. I think it is time to challenge him more, which is exciting. Westers is getting a handle on the potty thing which is super exciting. Westers is also becoming obsessed with Star Wars. I have no idea why, except that Star Wars is awesome and so is he so I guess it was just meant to be.

Seriously though, I really need a huge cheeseburger.

Where the heck have I been?

So I didn’t post barely any the last week of November.  I was kind of busy the first part of the week and then I actually had two nights and one whole day with my husband with no kids, so I took advantage of that.

The two boys and I went to see my mom and grandparents on Monday afternoon.  We got out a little late, got caught in some rush hour traffic, and made it there past dark.  Where I live now there is nothing but straight, flat roads.  Where I grew up there is nothing but hilly, curvy roads.  Back in the day I could drive those curvy roads blind folded.  Now, not so much.  I also do not see really well in the dark.  I am sure the people behind me did not appreciate me going 45 miles an hour for the last 20 miles of my trip, but oh well, we made it alive.  I forgot to take pictures most of the time, so I just have these two.

On Wednesday morning I dropped the kiddos off at Tark’s parent’s house and left.  I tried calling certain friends in the neighborhood but they wouldn’t answer there phones so I moved on down the road to another friend who did answer her phone.  I actually shopped a little and then ate lunch with friend who answered her phone.  It was great to see her!  I then proceeded home to my husband.

Thanksgiving Day, Tark and I went to the nearest big town and went to the movies.  We saw Twilight.  I have read the books as my youth read these books and it is important to keep up with things the youth like to do.  The first Twilight book I actually enjoyed so this movie wasn’t total torture for me.  It was a teen movie, it was corny, and it was emo, but still it entertained me.  Can’t say I will watch it over and over, but it was an okay way to spend a couple of hours.   After that we went bowling which was fun.  I beat Tark both times.  We then went to one of the only restaurants open (Ruby Tuesdays) and had dinner.  I had fish and Tark had steak.

Friday morning, Tark and I woke up early for Black Friday at Wal-Mart.  Now, I am an avid black Friday shopper.  I love it!  I know it’s crowded and I am crazy, but I always have fun, except for this year.  I am used to big Wal-Mart’s with nice size aisles.  Wal-Marts that let you walk around until 5 am.  This Wal-Mart was not very big and they made you line up in different lines until 5 am.  The lines were dumb as they came from all directions and pointed towards one single way.  When they took down the tape blocking off the goods on sale, it was crazy.  I thought I was going to die.  Evidently everyone went for some sheets on sale.  Some lady took her basket with her very young baby in it and blocked my way with it.  She then left her baby alone and shopped quite a ways away.  I didn’t know what to do.  I didn’t want to move her buggy or anything.  I was about to flag down one of the cops there when she finally came back.  I actually got everything I wanted and more and got out of there in 40 minutes so I guess it wasn’t that bad, but at the time it felt awful.

Friday night Tark’s family came down with the boys; they didn’t stay long and left around 1pm Saturday.  We traveled to a larger town to visit Target where they still had what I needed on sale.  We then took the kids to Chuckee Cheese, which I know is like a kid’s casino, but Mg loves it and he doesn’t go very often at all.

Sunday we had the hanging of the greens at our church, and the youth and I got creative, as you can see below.  Some of the youth in the picture are fairly new so I tried to hide their identity a little.

It was a good Thanksgiving holiday even if it was a little different than usual.

Traveling

I will be leaving mid day tomorrow to see family. I will go to my mom’s on Monday night and Tuesday night there and drop the kids off with Tark’s parents on Wednesday. I am really hoping my bladder holds up on the way to home state , because it is a pain to take two young kids in somewhere to potty. I better hope Mg’s bladder holds up as well. I hate stopping at a gas station where I have nothing to buy. I feel guilty so I usually end up buying a drink or gum. By buying a drink I doom myself to another stop down the road and the whole thing happens again. It is a horrible cycle. There is a nice welcome area at the state line I might stop at, but it is quite a ways from state line to destination.

Today I had church, plus an extra service tonight due to community service. It was a lot of church and a lot of singing the same Thanksgiving hymns over and over. These are hymns that only get broken out once a year so you know they aren’t things you know and that makes them just seem to last longer. It was a long day.

I came home and knitted while waiting for the laundry to get done so I could pack. Mg seems really worried that I will forget to pack for him or Westers. He even brought out there bags and put them in front of me. As I tucked him in he reminded me again. I really do not forget that many things when it comes to him, I don’t know why he is so paranoid. He really wanted to pack himself and was very concerned about not having any boxers to bring. It was very strange.

I have a lot of traveling coming up. I am sure we will visit someone the weekend before Christmas, probably Tark’s family (unless they come here). The weekend after Christmas we are visiting my mom and dropping off kids with her. That Monday we are leaving with the youth group for Disney World. We will get back on Sunday night. Then I will have a week at home and then I will go to this youth leader training thing for a week. I think then I have a few weeks at home and then the weekend conference youth retreats happen. But I suppose I will deal with all that as it comes!

Well wish us safe travels and few pit stops.

This and that….

First off Happy Birthday to ShoeShe!  I was going to post a picture of us going down a roller coaster being goobers for the camera, but it is not a flattering picture of either of us so we will just let that one stay were it is.

I am getting ready for a busy week next week.   I am driving to home state I think Monday afternoon or Tuesday morning to go see my mom and grandparents.  I am going to leave Wednesday and take the kiddos to Tark’s grandparents, leave them there and then come home.  So this will be the first Thanksgiving without the kids since we have had them, and the first Thanksgiving ever without being with family (besides each other) on the big day.

I think we might go to the church for the community Thanksgiving dinner.  We might just end up helping out a little and then driving to a really good steak place a little ways away that is suppose to be open on the day.

On Friday it is all about the shopping.  Yes, I am one of the idiots who get up early the day after Thanksgiving, run store to store, and spend way too much money.  It is fun, though!  I think I have my friend K convinced to go with me.  She had never heard of Black Friday before and thinks I am a little crazy that I want her to come with to Wal-mart at 5 a.m. in the morning.  I haven’t told her that it is usually crazy, and that we might die by a stampede of women with arms full of High School Musical dolls or be crushed by men carrying big TV’s.

I hope I can keep the post a day up when I visit mom.  She only has internet access through her wireless carrier, as she lives in the hills in the middle of nowhere.  I will try to post something.

I think tomorrow the boys and I are going to make our own little pre-Thanksgiving dinner after school.  It should be a good time, and I will try to post pictures.

Here is your smile today, brought to you by Tark and Westers….

(Driving in the car after dropping off some youth, Tark and Westers are left alone)

Westers: “Daddy?  Are we going back to church?”

Tark: “Yes, for just a little bit.”

Westers: “Is it God’s church?”

Tark: “Yes.”

Westers: “I love God.  Where is God”

Tark: “Well, Westers, he is everywhere.”

Westers: “Wow!  I can’t see him.”

Tark:  “Well, you can’t always see him, but he is everywhere you are.”

Westers: “Is God in the bathroom”

Tark: “Well, he is everywhere.”

Westers: “Oh.”

Dear Santa (Westers edition)

Me: “Okay, Westers, do you want to write a letter to Santa?

Westers: “Yea!”

Me: “Okay you tell me what you want to say and I will write it and you can draw a picture.”

Westers: “Okay!”

Me: “So what do you want to ask for from Santa”

Westers: (drops head and brings hands up like he is praying) “Dear Santa, I like Cars toys, Thomas toys, and Avatar.  Amen”

Me; “Amen”

Okay, so Westers and I need to have a talk….

My Weekend

Weekend in review

-I woke up early Saturday and went to church to get ready for the chili lunch during the bazaar. I got there and made a ton of chili and corn muffins. While doing this the people at the bazaar decide they needed coffee for the workers and patrons. I did it because they kept asking for it. I am not sure who they were asking to do it, but I did it so they would stop asking about it. So I made a ton of coffee because hey, I was only doing a million things already, it was not big deal. Then I grew a third arm. No, not really.

During this time I watched the youth show up and then watched the youth get distracted by a hula hoop demonstration. Then I watched the youth hula hoop. I then watched the pastor become fascinated with the hula hoops. He then proceeded to hula hoop.

I watched as we auctioned off youth for various duties including auction one youth to go slaughter hogs for someone. We then sold a ton of chili. I watched as we ran out of chili, and then I ran to the grocery store and cleaned them out of chili. I came back and quickly heated up the chili and watched as it sold out.

I bought a few small wreaths and watched the husband win two things in the silent auction including a 8ft solid cherry wood table with 6 chairs for 75 bucks. Not to bad.

We cleaned up and then went home for a while. We dug out the Christmas decorations from our storage building and looked at what decorations we have. We then went to an awesome dollar store and bought some cool Christmas stuff.

We came home and ate, and basically did nothing.

Today we went to church and saw 3 baptisms in one service, pretty cool. The church also received this cool keyboard thingy that looks like a baby grand piano. It is sweet. We then went home, ate, and relaxed. We then went to have youth praise band practice and youth praise band. We then did youth. I did a talk and got to use a video featuring my favorite hymn. I don’t know how the kids liked it, but I enjoyed doing it.

Now we are back home and I am ready to relax.

It’s Saturday and I did say a post a day so….

So it is Saturday, and it’s the first one in a while where we haven’t had something we had to do on Saturday or were recovering from something the night before. Well today we kind of do have something to do. Tark’s parents are brining a huge tv to us. It is there old one as they got a new slightly bigger one. I am not really excited about the massive set about to be in my living room, but Tark is, so I will let him have it. I will post pictures once it is in place.

Today we have spent cleaning our carpet, sofa, and kitchen. We also spent today trying to corral Westers. He has been insane. Yesterday was my day off, so I let him stay home with me. He was quite active yesterday as well and I tried to keep him occupied, but it was difficult.

I don’t know if it is just finally being super busy that has caught up with me, or if I have a sickness coming on, but I am just got so tired early last night and it has lasted until today. There are several factors that are also probably helping this fatigue. I had one of my dizzy spells and it is just that time of the month as well.

I have knitting my nieces (two of my sister in laws girls) scarves and hats for their birthdays. I had the oldest one’s finished but I wasn’t happy with it, so I re did it this week. I am afraid the younger niece will have to wait on hers just a bit. I have had a hat and scarf made for my 2 year old niece (my brother’s oldest girl and quite possibly one of the prettiest little girl ever) for about a month now and still have not sent it. I really hope to do that next week. My knitting skills aren’t the greatest so I hope they at least aren’t too ashamed to wear them.

Sorry about the post about pretty much nothing, but it is super hard to think of something to write everyday. It is especially hard when you are worn out and completely boring like me.

What to write, how about everything?

The following post is categorized as wow Cat really lives a pretty boring life.

Looking at thehuckablog and finally understanding what NaBloPoMo is, I guess I will try to post every day this month from now on.  So here it is the first day of everyday post and I really not sure I have anything to write about, so I will  just put a quite a few different things out there and maybe someone will find something interesting in all of this.

We took a trip to a local pumpkin patch the weekend before Halloween.  Fun was had I suppose, at least the boys seem to have fun.  I was kind of hot, and itchy from the hay.  They turkey they had on display also scared me, he kept staring at me.  Here are some pics:

On Halloween, we stayed at the church.  We held a big children’s fall festival.  About 250 people attended so it was crazy, fun, but crazy.  I am still really tired.  There was slime everywhere and it was a mess to clean up, but I think it was really worth it.  My children at least seemed to enjoy themselves.

The rest of this weekend has passed in a haze of busy nothings.  We have cleaned, done the necessary shopping, and watched football.  Church was interesting this morning as the sermon started with a description of how some people were Martyred during the years of Nero.  It was very graphic, but it did seem to get people’s attention.  I watched some of the youth’s expression during this.  One had her mouth and eyes wide open the entire time, another was covering her eyes.  I am not sure what this accomplished as there weren’t any images.  One lady in the choir actually got up and left.  I thought that was a little dramatic.

Right now Westers is running around with two light sabers Tark got on sale yesterday and Tark is watching the Princess Diaries.  Tark is a special guy who is in touch with his feminine side.

Well, until tomorrow, when I hope I have more interesting things to blog about.
